The Best Way to Blossom

In a note referring to an unseasonably chilly spring this year, my friend wrote, “I had to bring in my potted pansies.” She reminisced, “I remember when I bought them; it was a warm day and there was so much promise!” Since then we have all been “brought in” and had to take shelter. To do so, we may have dug up our future – plans we planted before they could take root – but we also may have experienced unanticipated spiritual growth. On retreat we may see the world differently too, allowing us to notice things about our decisions and our dreams. Reminding us that being present in each season is what holds its promises. My friend reflected, “Seeing my plants inside is a sign not to give up, and a reminder that it’s all temporary.”

Isaiah 60:19 reads,

“No longer shall the sun be your light by day,
Nor shall the brightness of the moon give you light by night;
Rather, the Lord will be your light forever, your God will be your glory.”
It is His promise to us that we will thrive by waiting on His timing. If we have the extra time, we can pray extra, too.*
