A Spiritual Growth Retreat

A principal of Hildegard of Bingen is viriditas, which she used to mean, “Greening the power of God.” We grow spiritually in many ways, or we are ‘green and growing’. Let us take some time away from the busyness of our lives to discover some of the ways that the Light of Christ grows in us through our spiritual greening process. We may discover in our time together the places where we need to take the Light of Christ through a new understanding of spiritual growth, in coming to know ourselves, and in discerning our walk with the Lord. There will be time for the celebration of Mass together, Meditation, Prayer, Conferences, Adoration, Sharing and time for Quiet and Stillness.

Penny Simmons is a woman who is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She has served as the Co-Director of Diaconate Formation for the Archdiocese of Atlanta since 2012 and as an instructor in Diaconate Formation for three years prior to that. She retired as Vice President with SunTrust Bank (now Truist) where she was a residential construction lender for over 33 years. She is a Certified as a Spiritual Director through the Haden Institute since 2001. Penny is married to Gary, and they celebrated their 55th Anniversary. She has a son and daughter-in-law and two very handsome and wonderful grandsons.

She enjoys all kinds of sports – as a spectator, Falcons, Penguins, and Hurricanes. She especially enjoys watching her 16 and 13-year-old grandsons play Hockey, Soccer and play in their school marching band and concert band. Penny is involved with many ministries in her parish, St. James the Apostle in McDonough Georgia, and is involved with the Atlanta Catholic Cursillo Movement for almost thirty years.

As part of the retreat center’s participation in the USCCB Eucharistic Revival, retreat guests will have the opportunity for Adoration on Friday and Saturday night as well as Mass and Confession.

Check-in in between 6-7pm Friday, July 7, 2023. Please note the retreat center is on Eastern Standard Time.

Weekend: $190.00 per person (includes $85.00 non-refundable deposit)

Day Hop: $85.00 per person (includes $40.00 non-refundable deposit)
