The Carolers of Christmas: Singing the Lucan Canticles An Advent Weekend of Prayer

Scripture scholars have commented that “Luke’s is a singing Gospel.” Within his first two chapters, Luke gathers a group of “talented carolers” who sing four songs (canticles) that have been cherished and used from the early centuries of Christianity in the daily liturgies of the Church.  If you are interested in joining this Christmas “choir,” come to this quiet weekend of prayer and reflection, and you may learn from Zechariah, Mary, Simeon and the Angels how to praise God for the gift of Jesus throughout your day and throughout your year.

We will begin with a light dinner on Friday at 5:00 pm and end after brunch on Sunday at noon.  Towels and bedding will be provided at the Mother Boniface Spirituality Center.

 Presenter: Clare A. D’Auria OSF, a Sister of St. Francis of Philadelphia, Aston, PA, currently ministers as a staff member at the Franciscan Spiritual Center in Aston, Pennsylvania.  For half of her fifty years in ministry, Clare has offered directed retreats as well as guided and preached retreats especially focused on women’s spirituality, the spirituality of aging, and Franciscan spirituality.  She also served on the staff of Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs for eight years, leading pilgrims through the holy sites in both Assisi and Rome.  A certified spiritual director, her other ministerial experience has included congregational and provincial leadership, secondary and collegiate education, and a variety of additional administrative roles both within and outside of her congregation.

Registration fees:

• Overnight registration fee: $170 includes room, meals and program materials.
• Commuter registration fee: $ 110 includes meals and program materials
