Sister Audrey Recktenwald, MSBT

Celebrating 70 Years

It’s hard to believe that it’s been seventy years since Sister Audrey left her beloved family and Louisville, Kentucky which she also loves dearly.  Sister arrived in Philadelphia on August 5, 1953 to begin her formation as a Missionary Servant of the Most Blessed Trinity.

Apart from two-year stint in religious education in Massachusetts, Sister’s ministry has been primarily in health care since she is a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner.  She has carried out this ministry in a hospital in Gadsden, Alabama; a clinic in North Carolina and in Hurtsboro, Alabama where she also cared for an impoverished group of people with many needs.  For several years Sister Audrey cared for our ailing Sisters in our Motherhouse infirmary. She also served in leadership on our General Council.

With that same missionary zeal she brought to the community seventy years ago, Sister Audrey volunteers at a Catholic Worker Clinic for the homeless and those addicted, and volunteers at a local day care center. When not volunteering Sister Audrey is busy baking and tending to the garden at our Motherhouse where she resides.
